Base on the act No. 23 year 2000, state of Banten residency of West Java change became Banten Province. Banten Province has area about 8.800,83 km2, that content four regencies namely Pandeglang, Lebak, Tangerang, and Serang, and two cities namely Tangerang and Cilegon.
Banten Province occur at term astronomy about 10501’ 11” – 10607’ 12” East Longitude and 507’50” –701’1” South Latitude, wield position is a strategy at internasional and national traffic.
Banten Province has boundaries:
a. In the north are boundaries by Java Sea.
b. In the east are boundaries by DKI Jakarta and West Java Province.
c. In the south are boundaries by Hindia Ocean.
d. In the West are boundaries by Sunda Strait.
While ecosystem of Banten Province is basicly content:
a. Northern Beach environment that ecosystem of irigated rice field, region of population, and industries.
b. Region of central Banten is rice field with limitation of irigation, and estate crops, little villages. Available of water is enough and stable. Available of water is enough and stable.
c. Region of Halim-Kendeng throught Malingping, Leuwidamanr, Bayah are hills that relative hard to access, neverthless that have a natural resources.
d. Region of West Banten (Saketi, DAS Cidano and about Karang mountain inclination – Aseupan, and Pulosari throught DAS Ciliman – Pandeglang and West Serang) that affluent concerning with water, are region that agriculture area.
e. Ujung Kulon as Java rhinoceros (Rhini Sondaicus) National Park.
f. Das Cibaliung –Malingping is area that water affluent, but does not use effectively and productively. The round are surge hills with estate crops and talun environment.
Climate of Banten is very influented by Monson trade and El Nino Billow. In raining season (November –March), West wind is dominating at Banten climate (from Sumatera, Hindia ocean beside South India) that conspire by wind from Asia that overreach South China Sea. At dry season (June – August) East wind is dominating at Banten.
That the reason of Banten region is undergoes aridity especialy at Northern Beach, and it’s very hard if El Nino occurs. Temperature at beach region and hills are about 220 C and 320 C, while temperature at mountain by altitude between 400 –1.350 m gains between 180 C –290 C.
